When to visit Burundi?

Visit Burundi throughout the year. The dry season is usually the best time to go to Burundi for an outdoor tour activity. The dry season normally runs from June to August and from December to January. The dry season is marked by warm dry temperatures and less rainfall. This causes dry trails/tracks which are suitable for navigation/traversing. There is also great visibility in the national parks because of the less dense vegetation cover during this season. The rains are also less frequent in the dry season to avoid interruptions of your adventure.

Birding tours are however better experienced during the rainy season. This is the time when lots of migratory bird species in addition to the resident species are found in the protected areas. The wet season in Burundi is experienced from February to April and from September to November. But migratory bird species are often sited from November to April each year.
