Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Akagera National Park and lunch will be served en route. Enjoy the difference in landscape and lifestyle as you step out of the busy Kigali city to the country on your way to the park. In the evening you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

Early in the morning after your breakfast, you will take on a morning game drive experience in the park. Encounter several wildlife species like the Big 5 animals. In East Africa, Akagera National Park is one of the few places to spot the Big 5 in their natural environment. You will also spot other animals like zebras, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, and giraffes to mention but a few.

This game drive exhibition will take you until lunch as you head back to your lodge for a meal. In the afternoon, take on a boat cruise experience on Lake Ihema where you will explore the aquatic life of the park. Hippos, crocodiles, and several bird species are some of the fauna to look out for. In the evening you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Birding and departure

A safari tour may not be complete without exploring the several bird species in the park. As you conclude your trip in Akagera National Park, you will have breakfast and head to the park a birding experience led by an experienced professional birder with knowledge about most of the birds in the park.

Expect to spot among others Papyrus gonolek, white-browed coucal, Denham’s bustard, Bushshrike, and red-faced barbet. As it clocks noon, return to your lodge have lunch and hit the road to Kigali for your departure flight back home.
