6 Days Rwanda Safari

Overview.

A 6 days trip across Rwanda’s incredible wildlife features and adventures should not be missed out. This is because of the amazing effect, it leaves on those who exhaust this opportunity. Rwanda is a small landlocked country located in East Africa offering some of the unique safari experiences. From their slogan the land of a thousand hills, this clean and beautiful country offers spectacular scenes of spanning landscape only fit for imagination. Its uniqueness is not just in its vast landscape but also in the wildlife species it harbors.

Rwanda is among the few places in the world to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. As you traverse the highland for these endangered primates, be sure to keep time for the Big 5 adventure at Akagera National Park. The cultural experiences and the many historical sites not to mention the city tours are also some of the many experiences you will be exploring.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Our driver guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport when you arrive in the country. After a short briefing about how the trip will run, you will then proceed to Nyungwe National Park and lunch will be served en route. You will arrive at your lodge in the park just in time for dinner. You will then rest for the night ahead.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

After a delicious breakfast, drive to the park offices at the briefing center for a pre-trekking briefing. The lead guide range will then take you through the rules, regulations, and the expected code of conduct. After grouping you into categories of 4 people and assigning a chimp community, you head out to the forest to track the chimpanzees.

Upon locating the chimps, spend an hour in their presence. There after head back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will take on a canopy walk above the forest where you may spot several other primates like colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, etc. also enjoy the spectacular sceneries of the park from high up on the canopy walk. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning after your breakfast, hit the road to Volcanoes National Park. This journey will take you about 6-7 hours and you will have lunch en route. Have spectacular views of the countryside of the local shops, tea plantations, the forest canopy, and more. In the evening you will arrive at your booked lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and cultural tour

As the sun rises, wake up have breakfast, and be transferred to the park office at the briefing center. You will be met by the ranger guide who will take you through the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking experience. He will then lead you to the dense forests of Volcanoes after categorizing you into groups of 8 and assigning a gorilla family to trek. This experience is an incredible one that will give you an up-close encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas.

Spend an hour in their presence observing them go by with their daily chores. Then head back to your lodge for lunch. Around 2 pm after lunch, you will be driven to ibyi’wacu cultural village for a cultural encounter. At the village, you will be met with amazing traditional dances and songs that portray the heritage of this beautiful country. Also interact with the cultural leader they take you through their traditional way of life. This experience will leave you longing for more as you head back to the lodge for dinner and rest for the night ahead.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Akagera National Park

Close off your stay and experience in Volcanoes National Park with a golden monkey trekking adventure after an early breakfast. This adventure will kick at the briefing center as the lead range guide takes you through the rules and regulations of golden trekking. As the norm with trekking other primates, you will also be grouped and assigned a golden troop to trek.

Then head to the dense canopies on a search for these golden-cheeked fur primates. You will then spend an hour them before returning to your lodge for lunch. After your delicious lunch at the lodge, you will check out and hit the road to Akagera National Park. By evening you will be at your lodge in the park for dinner.

Day 6: Game drive and departure

The last day of your 6 days Rwanda safari will begin with a delicious breakfast. A game drive experience in the park will conclude your stay in Rwanda. Enjoy the spanning savannah landscape of the park coupled with scattered acacia trees.

Encounter wildlife species like the Big 5 animals, hyenas, antelope, zebras, etc. This experience will take you till lunchtime as you head to your lodge. In the afternoon, you will begin your last journey to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home.
