Overview.
The Mundari people of South Sudan are renowned for many generations as cattle keepers. They reside in Juba City close to the White Nile banks. They originated from the Nilotic group of people who were migrating south but settled in the Karamojong mountains and others proceeded to the current South Sudan.
The Mundari people are traditionally nomadic pastoralists who move with their cattle from place to place for water and pasture. Their herding activities will surely give you something to memorize. Interact with them and learn the cultures and traditions on the 2 days you will spend in their presence. You will be amazed by the love they share with their cattle and the extra mile they take for the well-being of their animals. This is how your 2 days Mundari Cattle Camp will go.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the Mundari community
Arrive at Juba International Airport and be ushered into the country by our guide driver who will take you through a short briefing about your trip. You will then be transferred to the Mundari community to begin your cultural and cattle experience and lunch will be enroute.
In the evening as you arrive at the Mundari community you will be greeted by community leaders and friendly elders as the herdsmen and warriors return with their cattle from grazing. You will then head to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Mundari culture experience and departure
In the morning you will have breakfast and head to the Mundari community for a cultural experience. The elders of the tribe will take you through the tales of the heritage and evolution as the women skill you on their domestic chores.
Enjoy a wrestling match with the young strong men as they showcase their cultural skills. You will also explore cattle herding activities like cattle blowing an activity of blowing air in the bottom of the cow to help it produce more milk. These activities and more you will experience on this trip. By noon, transfer to the lodge for dinner and hit the road to Juba for your departure flight back home.
