Overview
Camping is the best way to experience the cattle tribes of Mundari and Dinka, as it is flexible and more convenient to give you a seamless cattle experience with these tribes. During this 5 days South Sudan luxury camping tour, you will spend some quality time in the cattle camps of the Mundari and Dinka people studying their herding practices as shown below in the itinerary.
Day 1. Arrival at Juba International Airport.
On this day, you will arrive at Juba International Airport and meet with our city tour guide driver, who will receive and warmly welcome you to the world’s youngest nation, South Sudan. Transfer to the hotel, Pyramid Continental/Radisson Blue. Your first impression will be meeting the tallest people on earth. The rest of the day is to explore, relax, and get briefed for the next tour programs.
Day 2. Drive for 3 hours to visit Dinka Cattle Camp – Awerial.
After your nice breakfast, take a walk to explore the largest market in the city – Konyokonyo. And after driving for 3 hours to Awerial – lake state to visit the Dinka’s biggest cattle camps. You will arrive at the time cows are returning from grazing fields, therefore immerse yourselves in Dinka evening activities of cleaning and burning cow dung to produce smoke that prevents them and their cows from mosquitoes and other insects’ bites, singing and praising of loved bulls, milking, etc.
Accommodation – strong wind-resistant and rainproof tents with a mattress and pillow provided. Including potable sitting toilets.
Day 3. Morning experience with Dinka activities – to the Mundari Cattle Camp/village.
After sunrise experience with Dinka activities, have your nice breakfast, pack and drive for 2 hours to the Mundari cattle camp. Before arriving at the cattle camp, you will en route explore one of the largest villages of the Mundari people by the River Nile side. (Nyinkabour) You will meet and interact with local people, explore their beautiful local huts scattered by the banks of the river Nile, visit the village fishermen, sing and dance with the Mundari women and young men of the village. Thereafter, continue with your journey to the Mundari cattle camp for your evening experience.
You will arrive to meet the amazing arrival of cows back from grazing with female cows mowing with their young ones as a way of love, enjoy the smoky arena from the burning cow dung, beating of drums to welcome/call cows back from grazing fields, massaging of bulls, etc.
Accommodation – luxury tents with a mattress and pillow provided, including the portable sitting toilet.
Day 4. Morning experience with Mundari to Juba.
You will have your last sunrise photos with Mundari activities of urine washing, massaging of bulls, cleaning and drying of cow dung, milking, preparation and serving of coffee to men by ladies, untying of cows, and display of loved bulls to visitors.
Thereafter, drive back to Juba, check into the hotel to refresh, and after transfer to the River Nile for a Boat cruise to explore the beauty of the Nile with its creatures like birds, hippopotamus, and crocodiles. Later, come back to the hotel Afex for your Dinner and Entertainment with the local artists. After our city guide transfers you back to your hotel for accommodation.
Day 5. Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight back.
After your nice breakfast, our city guide will transfer you to the Juba Airport for your flight back to your respective destinations.
